Around 273.3 million accounts of Hotmail, Gmail and Yahoo Login Credentials have been hacked by the hackers, according to Reuters. The login credentials which were leaked related to the Russian email service Mail.ru, according to research from cybersecurity firm Hold Security. Over the years, a lot of email accounts across platforms have been falling victim to hackers which have been affecting internet users across the world. The passwords are being stolen which would fetch a fancy price in the market.
Hackers Stoles Millions of Hotmail, Email, and Yahoo Account Users Login Credentials
The date breach has over 57 million accounts for the Russian email provider Mail.ru, 40 million Yahoo Mail credentials, 33 million Hotmail accounts and 24 million Gmail accounts. The hackers seem to be targeting mostly Russian users. The firm Hold Security is famous for obtaining stolen data from the hacking world and return it to the companies affected. The firm claims that it had persuaded the hacker who came upon directly to sell the data for a much lesser price. However, it eventually gave them the data set after the firm said they would post favorable comments about him on the internet.
The email addresses and passwords related to Hotmail, Gmail, Mail.ru are not the keys to millions of email accounts rather they had been hacked from the smaller websites where the users have used their respective email ids and passwords to log in. It is heard that the users who use different passwords won’t be affected. It is quite a concern for the users who use same passwords for multiple sites. Rather it is advised to use different passwords for multiple sites. Most of the hackers are targeting the email addresses and passwords of employees belonging to US banking, manufacturing companies.
A Spokesperson of Microsoft said that unfortunately there are places where the stolen date would be posted. Somewhere or the other they come across and try to protect the users. The Microsoft follows security measures to detect any fault and asks additional information to verify the rightful user of the account.
